What is AVN
An interruption in blood supply to the bone, causes bone to die is called Avascular Necrosis. Because bone is a living tissue and it requires blood supply. Avascular Necrosis (AVN) is a condition, when there is a loss of blood supply to the bone. If this supply is not maintained then it causes collapse of the bone.
It mostly occurs in hip joints but some other common sites are shoulder, knee, and ankles.
